about me

My name is Greta Senft and I'm studying Environmental Science and Geoscience at the University of Texas at Austin! I have a special interest in seabirds and hydrogeology with a bigger focus on estuaries and muddy coastal ecosystems. Currently I'm a research assistant on a project studying vocal production learning in hummingbirds

Current Projects

Research on Hummingbird Brains and Vocal Production Learning

During my time in the Clarke lab at UT Austin I've been a research assistant on a project studying why hummingbirds (despite having relatively small brain to body ratios) possses Vocal production learning. Which is an ability that is charcteristic of birds with relatvely large brains compared to their bodies. Throughout this project I've developed skills like coding in R, using 3d slicer to create endocast models of hummingbird and swift CT scans, and using data sythesis to asses what research has already been done on the topic
